Description 1: H/21”; W/13 3/4”; 2: H/40 1/4”; W/11 3/4”. 1: Bodice. Dark red silk taffeta. Narrow neckline, no collar. Front closure with 1 metal hook & eye. Long sleeves, full above elbow. 2 bands of maroon velvet above cuffs. Cuffs trimmed with off-white cotton lace. Vertical panels of same velvet down front & back of bodice. 2 rows of 7 velvet covered decorative buttons secured with 1 set silvery metal hooks & eyes. Gathered at back. Separate maroon cotton lining in front with 5 button closure. Linen undersleeve protectors. Padding top front chest. No waistband. Unfinished pinked bottom. Machine & hand sewn. 2: Skirt. Black ribbed silk waistband. Skirt straight, ungathered unitl hips then with box pleats. Maroon wool tape on inside edge of hem. Back closure with 1 black steel hook & eye plus 8 “Nicholls” closed eyes & figure-8 hooks. Slightly longer in back.
