Description Cross stitch sampler on linen worked in several colors; consists of seven rows of letters and undulating vine with flowers embroidered around the edge; VERSE: “What is friendship But/ a name a charm that/Lulls to sleep a shade/That follows wealth or fame, But leaves the wretch to weep (incomplete)”; below the verse, separated by a line of stitching, is “Betsy Wallingford born/october 9th 1789 Aged 11/? ? 1801
