Description Sampler worked on loosely-woven linen in black and blue silk thread in cross and satin stitches. Meandering top border with strawberries. Twenty-six letter alphabet worked first in script letters, then in capitals, followed by numbers, and finally a lower case alphabet over the verse. Verse reads: “ The female mind is ever fraught / With sentiments so kind / That by her hand some work is wrought / A sample of the mind.” A strawberry sprig flanks the inscription at the bottom.
