Description Needlework sampler executed in a variety of green, red, yellow, pink, white, black and brown silk thread on a linen ground and worked with bands of alphabets above a pious verse and a landscape scene with a house, trees, and an oversize basket of strawberries, the whole within a floral border; verse: When youth’s soft seasons shall be over/and [s]cenes of childhood charm no more/My riper years with joy may see/This youthful Proof of industry/As memory oer this task shall wake/And retrospective Pleasure take/How shall I wish but wish in vain/To enjoy youths careless hours again.
